SoleSiren Friday Fashgasm!!

Ciao Sirenas!!

This weeks Friday Fashgasm has come all the way from Milano. Milan Fashion Week in fact!!

This was shot front row at the Rocco Barocco show, which was a rainbow medley of fantastic foil prints and metallic textiles and slashed panels. The looks were completed with equally outrageous heels!

It’s kinda hard to spy from this angle but I’m rocking a very sensible flat, at Fashion Week I know?? But let me assure you the cobblestones are killers, and I watched many a doyenne come to her folly! These are the Siren ‘Bolt’ sandals in mint, kind of a nice tie-in with the mint Topshop bag I thought. The dress is a custom couture piece from William Lazootin, of Project Runway fame, love the cut-out back!!

I’ve included a couple of the location shots, so you can get a vibe for what it was like….such a spectacular backdrop for an amazing week!

Double air-kisses Sirenas! Ciao Ciao x

Minty Fresh…

Elevating the freshness at New York Fashion Week to all new levels was the colour mint.

Alice and Olivia kept it playful showing neutral tones with highlights of Aqua. A great way to update your look is with accessories like they’ve done here with the oversize bag.

Carlos Miele shimmied in an aqua accordion-pleated, asymmetrical hemline maxi. And you know how I love some embellishments….why not go for a hint of aqua to brighten up a basic white.

Catherine Malandrino presented a minted version of the shade, complete with leg-o-mutton sleeve shirts. Are they back in???

Charlotte Ronson’s girl is so cool it hurts, in an aqua plastic track jacket. Warning: wear only out of direct sunlight!

Cushnie et Ochs presented one of my favourite dresses for the season. Chic, elegant, cutout. Heaven!

The master of print Diane Von Furstenberg managed to team aqua and red in a new colour combinatin that’s oh-so-fresh. Be careful when trying this at home as you may end up less DVF and more Merry Xmas!

Escada draped some divine jersey to create this elegant maxi.

Monique Lhuillier took a lot of the new seasons trends and combined them in one: extended raglan sleeves, peplum skirts, digital prints, animal textures. There’s a lot going on here, but I kinda like it!

Rachel Zoe’s girl is a fab reflection of the Zoe-bot herself: modern, elegant and touch boho. Just missing a pair of oversize shades.

I love a long sleeve mini-dress and so does Rodarte, and my hat goes off to the sisterly designers for managing to make a skivvy look cool!

Here’s my top picks from Siren’s new collection for injecting a splash of aqua-minty-freshness into your ensemble: Arky, Joyce and Paris…

New York, New York

September 17, 2012 § 1 Comment

We were taken on an International extravaganza at the Spring 2013 Ready to Wear showings this New York Fashion Week. The catwalks were inspired by faraway lands and willed the fash crowd to pack our bags. There were hints of India (Marchesa) and Africa (Tory Burch), detours to ancient Japan (The Row), and a throwback to the 1950s (Alice and Olivia) and medieval times (Rodarte).

Leather was a huge trend again, so if you’re still not onboard this trend, then I definitely recommend investing now, as it seems there’s longevity here. If you’re not prepared to go full-blown rocker, then opt for leather inserts or splices as Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs have.

Speaking of Marc, he once again took the Runway to fantasy level, with Australia’s very own Ruby Jean opening the show in an Edie Sedgwick inspired look.

Harnesses were huge on the runways this season, with my favourite looks presented by Herve Leger, who successfully managed to toughen up their traditional bandage dresses.

One of my favourite trends was the manipulation of sparkle into daytime fabrics, since bling is practically a religion for me, I will definitely be rocking some daytime sparkle.

Golds, nudes and reds were big everywhere, from Michael Kors to Marchesa; Natural jewel tones were presented at Rachel Roy and Rachel Zoe, and big bold colours at Catherine Malandrino and Diane Von Furstenberg. It definitely seems that this season, any colour goes!

Below is a selection of some of my favourite looks…odd that it’s so monochromatic since you all know how much I crave colour, but these styles seemed effortless, cool and chic; exactly espousing the je ne sais quoi of The Big Apple.

SoleSiren Friday Fashgasm!!

In honour of the monochromatic menage that we’ve seen on the NYFW catwalks this week, I thought I would dedicate this weeks Fashgasm to the old classic: Black and White.

Now of course my B vs W has to be dripping in sequins…you may have spied this kaftan in our Spring Summer Campaign pics worn with Escape, but today I thought I’d match them with these amazing Amelie’s. There are many things I love about these shoes, not least of all the whopping 14cm killer heels. Aaah bliss. But seriously, how cute is the cut-out at the heel…so on-trend with today’s fashion. And I particularly love the white pearlised leather for a touch of added texture. So cool!

Worn here with a basic slip from another great Melbourne brand, Spencer Lacy, as well and jewels from Topshop. I’m all about these plated 5-finger rings.
